Finding Meaning in a Deadly Virus
Something out there
greater than us
something we did not choose
chose us
I reflect
find meaning
amid grief and sorrow, suffering and death
a unifying opportunity
individually
in community
in country
globally
we are transforming
being transformed
through the losses, isolation, loneliness, grief
by that something we did not choose
that chose humankind
to learn what we forgot — love
and the
temporariness of time
healing at a distance
by care of family and strangers
this can be a new frontier
where compassion and empathy
are victorious over selfishness and greed
we are being transformed
by something we did not choose
but chose humanKind
A monk is knocking at adoor by moonlight
(Jia Dao)
I go to answer
stumbling over cat
turning a cup of tea
into my ink pot
my brush tumbles
I open the door
only the moon
